Congressman Brian Higgins is on a roll. Heis taken the lead on a number of issues including the New York Power Authority Settlement, Skyway and waterfront development and is producing results. Higgins recently announced that the Coast Guard has agreed to review a proposal to consolidate its units and operations on Buffalois Outer Harbor onto ten acres, opening up the remaining 20 acres the Coast Guard presently occupies for public access and green space around the historic Chinamanis Lighthouse.
Currently the Coast Guard occupies 30 acres surrounding the lighthouse and limits access to parts of the Outer Harbor. Higginsi proposal is not a done deal, but it certainly is a great idea. Pretty good for a freshman! Give some pointers to the four-term Republican Congressional Committee Chairman from the 26th District about the importance of working on local issues.
