YUM's V-Day Guide: Trattoria Aroma
Since opening last year, Trattoria Aroma has quickly become one of the city's favorite restaurants. The dining room is cozy and romantic, the cuisine is well prepared and tremendously satisfying, and the wine list is excellent.
Aroma's Valentine's Day menu will be offered on the evening of February 14 alone. It's a prix fixe affair, and at only $55 per person, it looks like it will be a great experience at a reasonable price. The restaurant's regulars have already booked their seats. I suggest you do the same today.

Trattoria Terrific: Aroma's City Location Succeeds
When the well-known and loved Just Pasta closed its doors after more than a decade of good food and great service, it shocked many. Within a few years, two successive restaurateurs took their turns trying to reinvigorate the space, but it seems that operating under the name Just Pasta, a choice both businesses made, was more of a curse than a passing of the torch.
When its current owners arrived, the neighborhood breathed a sigh of relief. Fears that the restaurant would stand empty were quelled. Not only would the new owners open the restaurant with a different name, they also had more than a decade of restaurant experience under their belts. Dave Cosentino and Jerry Clementi already owned and operated one of Elmwood’s anchor establishments, Caffe Aroma on Bidwell, along with the successful trio on Main Street in Williamsville of Caffe Aroma (now Sea Bar), Trattoria Aroma an…
...utters a grand word, which awakens erotic and gastronomic ideas." Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste, 1825
Once upon a time, there was a restaurant called Tsunami that served the most amazing popcorn the world has ever seen. After a lot of begging, one of their former employees finally revealed the secret, the popcorn was tossed with…..truffle salt! I almost fell out of my seat when I heard this. I had been experimenting with truffle oil since the restaurant closed, but could never truly replicate the flavor. I adore truffles. Imagine, one little piece of fungus, growing in the dirt in France. Along comes a farmer with his 300-pound pig. Pigs sniffs truffle (although dogs can be trained to do this, as well). Pig finds truffle. Pig starts digging for truffle. Pig really wants to eat the truffle. Now imagine trying to w…
They may want to make Hertel our Little Italy but wise diners will also find each other on Bryant and Ashland at Trattoria Aroma. Dave Cosentino and Keith Dulak have brought, hands down, the best Italian food and wine to the Elmwood Village. This is authentic Italian, and I'll just cut to the chase - you won't be disappointed.
The daily specials list is always interesting and typically includes a soup, antipasti, pasta, fish, and meat entree as well as a calzone. One pasta special should not be missed if it's on the menu. The spaghetti with prosciutto, peas, cracked pepper, and roma tomato in a parmesan-egg sauce shows how skilled and authentic the cooking is at Trattoria Aroma. This dish can go downhill quickly if the sauce is made imperfectly, which is certainly not the case here. Instead of a tacky, lip sticking feel the egg based sauce is pulled off with deft skill. …
I am in constant amazement at the number of new restaurants that continue to pop up around the city. If you are a ‘foodie’, then Buffalo is the place to be. And I'm not just talking about chicken wings. There are so many options out there that the decision about where to eat has become rather difficult. Of course there are the favorites like Brodo, Shango and Prime 490, North End, but have you been paying attention to the number of fresh faces on the scene? Places like Scarlet, and Trattoria Aroma (photo), and Sample, and Staples of Allentown (soon to serve food), and The Stillwater, Europa, Kuni's to Go, Buffalo Kabob House, Buffalo BBQ and Brew, and Empire? Plus there are three or four new places scheduled to open in and around the Allentown area.
Buffalo was formerly referred to as a city that had a bar on every corner. These days you could say the same thing about restau…

Cusina Rustica Italiana
Also known as Trattoria Aroma. Even though the snow kept most people away from the new restaurant that just opened in the former Just Pasta location, we just couldn't resist the warm looking atmosphere. The warm glow of the up-lit columns, blended in with the soft shades of yellow wall frescoes, makes Trattoria Aroma a magnificent neighborhood nook. The 100% Italian wine list is pretty hot, and the menu is the exact same 'tested and true' menu from owner Dave Consentino's Williamsville location. He and business partner Jerry Clementi have done with their new restaurant what Buffalo ‘foodies’ have been waiting for... good food, relaxed atmosphere, and killer service.
