The Melvins- Senile Animal
The Melvins, a band from the Seattle area, will be here to knock your socks off on October 6th. Showplace is the venue, and a very appropriate one at that.
The Melvins heavily influenced the Seattle grunge sound, and often sat in with many of the eras most popular bands. Kurt Cobain, one of their former roadies, helped them get a contract with Atlantic Records by publicly touting their music. Theyve released collaborations with Jello Biafra, (the iconic lead singer of the Dead Kennedys) and former teen idol, Leif Garrett. Additionally, Jello and Adam Jones of Tool supported them on their Never Breathe What You Cant See tour. Although the audience is likely to instantly associate their sound with grunge, their off beat sense of humor sets them apart. Their latest album, (A) Senile Animal, is slated for release on October 10th. And for those of you trivia buffs, Lori Black, daughter of Shirley Temple, was once a bassist for the group. Wild, huh? The Melvins will appear at Showplace on October 6th. Tickets are $15.

In Carla's own words, the night was a "glad you missed it" affair, but the week of rehearsal leading up to the gig had been enough to get Stanley excited enough to dig into a major change of musical direction. "I knew that I wanted to introduce a violin into the new songs, but I hadn't bargained on finding someone to share lead vocals …

Whether you’re entertaining a dinner guest or having a sleep over, everyone’s experienced a bad guest - that person who won’t be invited back (unless they’re family and you have no choice). That happened to a man named Moss Hart back in the 1930s. Hart constantly collaborated with famed playwright George S. Kaufman and had just entertained Alexander Woollcott, a famous radio personality from that time period, and had quite a traumatic experience. From that, “The Man Who …
