Speak of the devilOe

It looks like Crystal Beach Loganberry (CBL) has finally hit the city. Somebody brought a bottle to lunch this afternoon along with a Bocce pizza. I had not seen the new bottle of loganberry, which is produced by PJis in Saratoga Springs, NY. I have mixed feelings about the Crystal Beach label. One reason is the fact that the name capitalizes on local nostalgia, but itis not made in the area anymore. Crystal Beach suckers are back on the market, and they are still made around here. Itis not like Saratoga is that farOe itis just too bad that that the Western New York area (or Crystal Beach) could not have had a hand in the business. Who knows, maybe itis appropriate. The original Comet is located in Glens Falls, which is a neighbor of Saratoga, so the old wooden rollercoaster and the new Crystal Beach Loganberry have found a home together about five hours East of Buffalo.
Owners of CBL, PJ and Carolyn, grew up drinking the flavor that became one of their favorite childhood pastimes. They graduated from high school, got married, went to college, and became schoolteachers. The couple then moved to Saratoga Springs, New York, and 23 years ago opened their restaurant, PJis Bar-B-Q, recognized as one of the top 8 barbecue restaurants in the United States by City Magazine, a national publication.
Being from Buffalo, the Davisi wanted to sell popular Buffalo items in their restaurant, such as Buffalo Wings, Kummelweck Sandwiches, Sahlenis Hot Dogs, and Loganberry! Loganberry became so popular that it was outselling the major leading cola brands also offered at the restaurant. During the winter customers were asking where they could purchase Loganberry while the popular summer restaurant was closed. And the rest, my friends, is history.

Columbus Park could be one of the most underutilized parks in Buffalo. It also has a ton of untapped potential. There are bike trails and walkways leading through the heart of it as well as a ton of old growth trees. I’m sure that the park is used by the neighbors, but unlike parks like Johnson, Days, etc., I rarely see activities and events taking place there. As a matter of fact, I don’t recall ever seeing an event or gathering at Columbus Park.

According to Joy McDuffie, Foreclosure Prevention Specialist at the WNY Law Center, don’t believe everything you hear about foreclosures in Buffalo – they’re still a real problem. McDuffie says many think that Buffalo didn’t get hit hard by the sub prime lending market collapse, but that it just isn’t true.
“We’re really trying to help because Buffalo definitely has a foreclosure problem, but there are things that homeowners can do. We actually have a $700,000 two-y …
Medaille was founded in 1875 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph to prepare its members for teaching in diocesan schools. Later, in 1937 the institute was chartered by New York State to grant baccalaureate degrees in education; the college was renamed in honor of Father John Peter Medaille, and the rest is history.

We have a family cottage on Maplewood Ave. in Crystal Beach, and even though the cottage is closed, we still go up several times during the winter. We live in N.Tonawanda, and is only takes 35 min. to get there.
We regularly purchase Loganberry at some of the local super markets. It's called Cronfelt's Crystal Beach Loganberry.....and believe me, it is the real deal!!! You mix one part of Loganberry syrup, with four parts of water. (I am having some right now!!!). It is really good.
When in Crystal Beach, for an extra special treat, there are two stops that you have to make. One, is the the Lakeview restaurant, located at the old entrance of the amusement park. They have phenominal food, and the fish fry (fish & chips) is to die for. Better than LeBros!!! Also, at the corner of the street is Sneaker's tavern. They have great wraps with various ingredients that are unbelievable... But try the fish & chips at the Lakeview restaurant......it is the best fish we have ever had..... By the way, we DO rent out our cottage for some weeks during the summer.......drop us a line.....

I read your article on Buffalo Rising and want to ask you a quick question. Apparantly Tops and wegmanns no longer carry the Loganberry Syrup Concentrate. Do they still sell it in the Crystal Beach are? If so , at what stores?
Thanks for the help.
