Painting Partners In Allentown

Painting Partners In Allentown

On one of the first really warm days of summer (yesterday), two painters found their way to a street corner in Allentown (across from Frizzy's) to set up shop. I found it interesting that Paulette Jurek (Impact Gallery) and Linda Schutter (Buffalo Public School teacher) have been painting streetscapes together since 1995. The two have formed a sort of partnership that enables them to come up with two totally different perspectives of the city that they are able to spell out on their canvases.

Allentown has become the place of choice for the two when it comes to finding interesting street corners to depict. They even met The Bubble Guy one time - an experience that they have treasured and still like to talk about. I always appreciate people who take the time to show their artistic talents in public. I can't imagine having visitors stop by to see what is developing on an artist's canvas. These two appeared to be quite comfortable answering the questions that I had. And the works of art were really coming along quite nicely. Hopefully we’ll see the finished works show up in an Allentown gallery sometime soon.

I happened upon these two ladies when I was walking to the bank & back during my lunch break from work....they were so gracious, allowing me to view their work and answer a few questions as well. It was a wonderful sight to see, and one of the reasons I feel very lucky to work in Allentown!

Find the "White Lady" and interview her. THAT would be interesting.

@toughintheStreets - very true! Does she speak to anyone? I've said hello to her before, but got no response. She would be a fascinating subject....does anyone know her?

Everyone and no one knows her. She is a like some modern day white buffalo from native american lore.
