Our First New Era Caps
Living in Buffalo my entire life I am sorry to say that I have never owned a New Era cap. Today I knew that I would be making a purchase to remember the grand opening of the New Era Buffalo flagship store. My date and I spent a good hour and a half looking through the entire collection of hats. We went from section to section checking out all of the colors and styles before settling on two that we liked. First off we needed a pink Sabres' cap and we weren't sure if we were going to find one. Not only did we find one, we found a bunch of different styles including the new logo and the old-school logo. She chose to go old-school, so we snagged that first and headed off to find one for me.
My selection was a bit more difficult. I was replacing an old fave that I had been wearing for a while. The new caps looked... new, and I wanted something that appeared to be broken in. It was then that I passed by one of the original throwbacks. It was a remake of one of the original caps that company founder, Ehrhardt Koch, manufactured back in 1920. How could I go wrong with that? I tried the cap on with brim facing front and thought the look was OK. Then I flipped it around and knew that I was in luck. The cap was warm, comfortable and had Ehrhardt Koch's initials embroidered onto it. I threw my old cap into a bag that we had and the two of us walked over to cash out. It looked as if half of Buffalo was doing the same, as the line wrapped all the way to the back of the store. It made the purchase even more fun. When you're not used to shopping lines they can be a pleasure to wait in.
