Needs No Words...

Well, maybe a few. This is a shot BR friend and photographer Glenn E. Murray, Esq. took from Erie Basin Marina last night.
Glenn, a local lawyer, jokes that his mid-life crisis is photography. Aren't we all glad for that?
Originally labeled as a shot from LaSalle by us, Glenn said we should offer a free one-year subscription to BRM to the astute individual who first noted the gaffe. Funny and clever, that Glenn. Maybe we need a series of shots from him that we let the commenters guess at. Could be fun...

The Erie County Legislature has approved an amended 2009 Erie County budget in a "surgical approach" by accepting the amendments approved last week by the Finance, Management and Budget Committee, but - much to County Executive Chris Collins' dismay - eliminating his previously proposed tax rate increase.
By holding the line on property taxes, Collins' $1.2 billion proposal was cut by about $9.5 million, while providing for essential services such as public safety, health, huma …
Ever since ArtVoice broke the news about the suspicious ousting of West Side housing activist Harvey Garrett from the board of West Side Neighborhood Housing Services, everyone has been wondering: What will happen next? Will this stick? Will there be some kind of investigation? When will the other shoe drop?
One dropped yesterday. In a letter to board Chairman Ramon Morales, Assemblyman Sam Hoyt announced his intention to pull his legislative initiative funding from West Side …
Four games in 6 nights certainly marks a rough patch in a schedule, and the Buffalo Sabres showed what kind of toll it can take by losing to the Nashville Predators 2-0 on home ice.
To be fair, both teams played an uninspired game from start to finish, which makes sense when you consider that the Predators played 3 games in 5 nights. There were few exciting scoring chances on either side of the ice and the game's pace was both stilted and broken. It was likely due to the coache …
From Hoss: "Is Kabob and Curry opening at the old Mondo location on Elmwood, or Main? I haven't been to their primary eatery on Transit, but I hear they serve the best Indian food around."
Kabab and Curry will open in about two weeks at the former Mondo Video location... approximately mid-December. I understand that it will be more of a take-out operation than the existing restaurant located on Transit Road. It appears as if the Transit eatery attracts a lot of university student …

I could be mistaken here, but I'm pretty sure that shot was taken from Erie Basin Marina, not Lasalle Park. If it were taken from Lasalle, we'd be seeing the ugly square lighthouse in front of the Coast Guard light.

yeah... that sculpture is definitely at the Erie Basin Marina, not LaSalle Park.

Great picture, I'd love to see more!
Question or comment... I've been out of town for almost three weeks and it seems that BRO has changed in that time. The quantity and quality of comments has gone down and most of my favorite commentators are no longer posting. Did something happen or is it just a slow time on the site?

Einstien, if BRO doesn't like what someone posts they delete your comment and your username.... i.e., risingdamp, betterthandetroit, brokeepsblockingme.......many more that added diversity to the site are no longer here.
As for Lasalle Park, it is the nicest and most underutilized piece of land in all of Buffalo. It needs to be kept as a park so the ghetto across the highway can cross over and have BBQ's in the summer per Byron Brown.
Build condos or something more valuable at Lasalle Park, the waterfront there is gorgeous with beautiful trees.

There's just something about the light at the end of summer in Buffalo. Thank you for giving us all something to savor!

Too easy to correct that gaffe! That is Erie Basin Marina (yes, the beans were already spilled), very close to the open porch off of Hutch's, before the stone breakwall starts. Cool new sculpture, by the way. I love that it's there. Username is astute regarding the two "lighthouses" (1813 light and EBM overlook). Good job. Beautiful photo, by the way. For me, the best part of Buffalo is it's closeness to so many aquatic wonders. I CAN'T imagine living away from our beautiful Great Lakes. Beauty at every time of year. Truly.
