Shark Gives New Bite to Mighty Taco

Mighty Taco was founded in 1973 and has always been exclusively in Buffalo. They have 15 locations across the WNY region and have no signs of slowing down. Shark Energy Drink has been around since 1965, but just recently moved to Buffalo in 2007.
Shark has really been making a splash around the city. With their presence on Chippewa, as well as with Mickey Rats and Cozumel, they have emerged as a contender for the top spot of energy drinks in Buffalo.
It almost comes with no surprise that Mighty Taco has taken them on. Full of taurine, choline bitartate, caffeine, and vitamins B6 and B12, Shark Energy Drink is the perfect fuel to regain energy after any meal.
CEO of Shark Energy Drink, Moe Boukadida speaks of the partnership, “We at Shark are thankful for the opportunity to be the first energy drink in a local fast food restaurant, not to mention in a place like Mighty that has won the local popularity contest.”
Isn't it great to know you can make your mouth and your body happy with Mighty and a Shark?

On July 8, US District Court Judge William M. Skretny determined the Seneca Nation of Indians could not legally operate a gambling casino on their nine-acre Michigan Avenue site. “Business as usual,” said Seneca Nation President Maurice A. John, Sr. the day after the decision. Nearly two weeks later, gambling continues in the temporary facility and work on the permanent casino is proceeding.
If you're hanging around the computer at this moment an still have not decided what you are going to do this afternoon, maybe a game of Scrabble could entice you to come hang around The Yard. Just a day after getting lambasted by Donn Esmonde, City Hall has announced that there is going to be a $20,000 overhaul conducted on its Observation Deck and the surrounding area. According to The Mayor, the news article and the announcement were simply ironic, and the improvements were scheduled to take place regardless. Whatever prompted the action to take place, it’s good news for anyone who takes the time to visit the architectural masterpiece.
Last year clear panels were …

I wish Mighty Taco had 15 locations across the city. Sadly, there's only one remaining.
Also, I everyone I know is very upset about the switch to little bags of Tostitos.

You're right. It should say 15 locations across the WNY region. Changed.

With this headline I was hoping that Mighty Taco would start serving Baja-style fish tacos...if you think that sounds gross, I promise it's not...

I liked the paper bags at mighty. Just cheapened the product when they went to plastic, plus a bit more environmentally unfriendly I believe.

no kidding... how is there no Mighty Taco in the University Heights or Elmwood Village? Sure seems like their demographic. I don't know a time when the Mighty on Forest wasn't busy. I guess they ONLY have locations where they can have a drive thru. And that's sad. Guess that's the reason there isn't one downtown either. Was it true they wanted the current ETS location after BK left, and that's why ETS jumped into that location, to beat Mighty?

I don't think the chips were ever homemade, at least not in my lifetime. I remember they switched shapes a few times, from round to rectangular to triangular. I agree with flyguy about the plastic bags, the paper bags were much nicer. And remember how entertaining the placemats used to be? What about the change in the bean recipe? Is anyone else aware that at one time you could get Italian dressing on your taco?
Seriously, though... why has Mighty Taco all but abandoned the city? Maybe they should build a new store at Elmwood and Bryant. It would preserve the fast food character of that corner.

They would make a killing with a location proximate to Canisius and UB South.

Speaking from experience, they would also do well with a location in Geneseo. I remember friends in college driving an hour to an hour and half back to Buffalo for a "mighty run." They'd come back with food for 20 or more people.

LivingForge - I remember doing that during my freshman year of college. If I came home for the weekend I'd call Geneseo before driving back and pick up an order for all my friends from the area.

They used to have a Bailey Ave location in the UB area....guess it was a victim of changing neighborhood demographics. I think a Univ Heights location on Main would do just fine. The original at 1247 Hertel was the best ever - open late most nights you grabbed your tacos and stood at the front window counter watching the nightlife pass by...

Folks love Mighty Taco because they're local, but in reality they're now just as suburban-oriented as Taco Bell. It's sad the same can apply to Anderson's and Ted's, too.

Mighty has a policy that any new restaurants built must have a drive-thru. And you've seen the uproar curbcuts and increased traffic cause in Buffalo.
They should have moved into the new ETS location.
Actually, a Mighty at the old KFC would seem to work. Room for drive-thru, good location. Is it big enough?
But i really don't want to start any arguments on KFC again.
