Kepa3 Gallery Opening:
Don't miss this opening tomorrow, Friday March 31, from 6-9pm. The show features painter Bruce Bitmead in "The Renaissance - Revisited", recent paintings; and installation artist Ellen Markel with "CYRK", found objects.
Past openings at Kepa3 have proven to be quite interesting. The new gallery location has really surfaced as one of the more dynamic venues showcasing the works of both local (and not so local) artists. The gallery has positioned itself directly around the corner from the exciting Artspace project, which means that this off-Main community is sure to make a future mark on Buffalo's growing art scene.

The University at Buffalo released a draft of its comprehensive plan for its three campuses yesterday. In the plan, the North Campus would be the heart of the university's academic core, and the Downtown Campus will be part of the "Medical Corridor" and the South Campus will hold the professional schools. The City's Lafayette Ice Rink on Tacoma Avenue will be getting nearly $200,000 in city-funded capital improvements according to a statement by Mayor Byron W. Brown.
The money will go toward the first significant infrastructure improvements to the sports facility since it was opened in 1989. Canisius College purchased HealthNow's former headquarters at 1901 Main Street yesterday from Uniland Development Co. The three-story building will be transformed into Science Hall, an interdisciplinary science center. Canisius paid $18.45 million for the building and an adjacent parking ramp. HealthNow relocated to downtown in 2007.
