Kathy Griffin Day In Buffalo (Seriously)

Kathy Griffin Day In Buffalo (Seriously)

Story Options

Mayor Byron Brown proclaimed Monday, February 12th "Kathy Griffin Day" in Buffalo. Kathy was in town to perform a benefit show for AIDS Community Services at Sheas, and before the show she was showered with Buffalo-themed gifts, including a stuffed Buffalo, Chef's Spaghetti Sauce, and the (in)famous Chicken Wing Hat. Kathy also received a basket of Lucy memorabilia from the Lucy Museum in Jamestown and a glittered, feathered Key to Buffalo which she immediately declared the gayest thing she'd ever seen.

Kathy started the show with a few digs at our frigid weather and went on to dish about everything from Star Jones to Paula Abdul to her parents to Barbara Walters and then back to Paula Abdul, to the crowd's obvious delight.

Kathy Griffin day in Buffalo??? What have we come to when in order to get second rate celebrities to like our city we have to give them a day...Hey Byron... when is David Hasselhoff day, or Pauly Shore day in Buffalo? If we are going to be deicating a day out of the year to a citizen, lets at least take some time to think about the citizen we choose. I'm sure there are hundreds of deserving Buffalonians that have actually contributed to our city, that are well more deserving than Kathy Griffin. Bad move Byron.

lighten up slickwilly, she did perform a benefit show for AIDS Community Services. I would love to see a paul shore day. How about a Pauly Shore festival? It could be BuffaloRising's next pet project.

I wish the Mayor would stop embarrassing us. The other day was Molly Ringwald day. This is soo lame. However, I did enjoy Kathy Griffin on Monday night!

I think you are all way off the mark on Kathy Griffin and the Mayor. It was all done to help raise money and awareness for a great Western New York agency. Whatever has to be done to get publicity for that is fine with me.

When an "A" list celebrity or a "D" list celebrity like Kathy Griffin comes to town and the entire profits go to an excellent community based organization like AIDS Community Services and Evergreen Health Services, an entire week should be named for Kathy Griffin, maybe even the end of Chippewa Street should be renamed. Her performance was funny and everyone was thrilled to have a great laugh. It looks like her meet and greet session at the Shea's Buffalo Green Room with Mayor Brown was the toast of the town, Buffalo put Kathy Griffin on the "A" list where she rightfully belongs. Just ask any of her gays.

don't believe the hype, even her own. she's carved out a niche for herself. she's huge.

and how seriously can you take this? she's got an effing chicken wing on her head...

good cause, good show. kudos on the mayor for embracing the camp.
