I recently met up with Buffalo's Wing King, Drew Cerza, who told me that one of the biggest hits of The National Buffalo Wing Festival has become the .5K run. It's called The Running of the Chickens, and it sounds like an absolute blast. The last time I participated in a .5K was about eight years ago... and it just so happens that the current course is identical to the one I ran back then.

The starting line is Irish Times Restaurant (located directly across from Dunn Tire Park). That’s where participants line-up (for beers) before the race. Then the course winds all the way around the baseball stadium where runners cross a finish line and end up in chicken wing heaven. "The same guy wins the race every year," Drew told me. "Many people show up in costumes - they're just looking to have a good time. 'Runners' can register the day of the race (Saturday, August 30th)... it's one lap around the stadium. We've been hosting the festival for seven years - the .5K race has been going on for four years."

The National Buffalo Wing Festival takes place on August 30th and 31st.

So if I decide to start the "Beef on Weck" festival does that make me the King of the Weck?
