Golden Boys Miss Golden Opportunity Again!!!

Story Options

First of all, I would like to start off by saying that nobody wanted to write a more positive article about the coaching hire than myself. I was hoping that things would be different heading into next season. Well, I can honestly say that everything positive that stood for Marv Levy came to a crashing halt Sunday night after discovering that Dick Jauron was going to be the Buffalo Bills next head coach. Wasn't the horrible flaw with Tom Donahoe the fact that he could not cut his ties with the Steelers organization? Did he not hire people that he knew would never challenge his authority? Now it is Marv Levy who has hired the lesser candidate because of his ties from Chicago and the good ole' days. Nobody cares that Jauron has a similar personality to Marv or that these two can sit back and talk shop; the only thing Bills fans wanted was to be associated with a proven winner.

I cannot understand what the reasons could have possibly been that led to the dismissal of Mike Sherman's resume. Everything about this guy screamed HIRE ME! It is said that Ralph Wilson was leaning towards hiring Sherman and Marv wanted to go with Jauron. What happened to Mr. Wilson "getting more involved" and "money not being an issue"? I do not want to bash Jauron because it is not his fault that he has been lured into the new "laughing stock" of the NFL. Has anyone seen the spoof commercial on ESPN that depicts the Buffalo Bills as a bunch of chokers as the fans live in a constant state of gloom?

I just wish that I could erase the 4 years of memory from when I witnessed Jauron coaching the Bears in Chicago. It was eerily familiar to the past 5 years here in Buffalo. I watched more Bears games than I care to admit and believe me folks, it was not pretty. Jauron might be a fellow "genius" in Marv Lev's eyes but that certainly did not translate on to the playing field at in Chicago. It was one of the worst offenses that I have seen. God forbid that management actually took a chance and picked a coach that had a proven track record.

If you think the fans are going to be disappointed with this pick, wait until Jauron picks his old QB coach from his Chicago days to be the Bills Offensive Coordinator. Where does the pain end? This was THE perfect opportunity to set this franchise in a fresh direction. It was laid up on a silver platter and management kicked it wide right. It is now evident more than ever that the constant comfort zone that has plagued this organization for years will be the determining factor that tarnishes it again for seasons to come.

Wow! This certainly will not help season ticket sales. I wonder if Marv thought about how many people would buy tickets with Sherman as head coach compared to Jauron. We are now faced with another "potential" 8-8 season. It's crazy - Bills fans have come to accept mediocrity.

I fear this was the last chance for the franchise. Now it will be doomed to 3 more years of mediocity before Jauran is fired and the team is moved. :(

This is really disappointing. Well, I hope Jauron is better in Buffalo than he ever was here in Chicago. Let's hope his mix of assistants won't be the matches to the gas can. Yeesh!

hiring smart people is never disappointing, vince lombardi would not have looked good with chicago's personel. Smart people learn from experience's eg Marv in kc, Bill b. in cleveland, Dick Jauron will be a pleasent surprise, Give him Bret FARVE AND HIS RECORD WOULD LOOK MUCH MORE LIKE SHERMAN'S>

I do like Farirchild as an OC - Looks like we might get Bates as DC and that would be GREAT news!! I would feel much more comfortable with the direction this team is going with those two hires - Hopefully , I will be eating crow after the Jauron hire!!!!!
