Ah, Rhode Island Street, it’s a colorful place really. Home to the Essex Street Pub, Left Bank (on the same block, honest!), and Delicious Delicious Audio, our second stop and favorite hang of Fen Ikner from Knife Crazy. The studio is just as unpredictable and entertaining as the street it resides on, and its owner for that matter. Buffalo Rising: Where are we?
Fen: This is my studio; it’s called Delicious Delicious.
Buffalo Rising: So you’ve tasted it? Fen: Yes, two times! I like to record rock bands here. Um… should I name rock bands? Can I name rock bands? Buffalo Rising: Yes please!
Fen: Ice Cream Social, The Czeck Mates, Light Box Therapy…god, who else?... Joe Molhollen, Knife Crazy… millions and millions of other artists. Bon Jovi…
Buffalo Rising: Bon Jovi?
Fen: Yeah, Bon Jovi
Buffalo Rising: (laugh) So tell me about the band. How long have you guys been playing together?
Fen: We have been playing together …uh… two years. Something like that. Buffalo Rising: Cool. So how did that happen?
Fen: Just by accident… there was a big explosion in a lab and uh….. Knife Crazy was born. Buffalo Rising: Awesome! Can you tell me what some of the bands favorite Buffalo venues to play are?
Fen: Hmm… Pizza Hut on Bailey, Mohawk Place--that’s one of my favorite venues to play in Buffalo. Kenmore Lanes Bowling Alley, I like that a lot. I’d like to expand to other bowling alleys... eventually perhaps opening my own bowling alley .... and playing in it nightly.
Buffalo Rising: Mohawk Place. A lot of bands seem to like it there, why?
Fen: Well, the bowling is not very god there but… the mohawks are.
Buffalo Rising: You are hilarious! So how did you hook up with Artists and Models?
Fen: Steve Baczkowski... he has a lot of constants in his name. I’ve known Steve for years as has everybody else in the band so… he likes the way we rock.
Buffalo Rising: Well I hope we like the way you rock…
Fen: Yeah, I certainly hope so
Buffalo Rising: What can we expect from Knife Crazy at Artist and Models this year?
Fen: Poses! A lot of posing… um, strutting, catwalks. Actually we’re going to set the catwalk on fire…with our rock! Buffalo Rising: This should be interesting...

Though it may only be the fifth time since 1992 that the Albright-Knox Art Galley has increased its admission rate, the higher fee speaks to the changing face of our society and economy. To keep the gallery in good financial health, it is necessary to increase the price of a regular adult admission ticket from $10 up to $12. The new price will go into effect on January 1st 2009.
The director of the gallery, Louis Grachos, has said that due to higher costs in all areas of the gall …
French satire from the 1600's feels like falling asleep in high school english class. But classic French satire with a rock and roll band? That sounds better. We can thank Andy Liegl for this bold modernity on December 26th when his production of Such Foolish Affected Ladies opens at the Alt Theatre. The original play calls for violinists but this role has been liberally opened up to local band The Nepenthe. "I wanted an indie rock sound, something that my generation can click wit …
It’s funny how history seems to repeat itself. Florence Foster Jenkins was in the elite member of society, but terribly eccentric and utterly convinced that she was a great coloratura soprano – despite the fact that she couldn’t carry a tune for even a few notes. She even managed to hold a sold out concert, even though she couldn’t sing! Sound familiar? Remember William Hung?
Jenkins’ story happened over 50 years ago. She would hold annual recitals in the Ritz Carlton h …
What could be more perfect to spread the news about local artists at the Buffalo Indie Market than a literary magazine that features works from local artists? NOMAD is a new magazine set to debut in January 2009 that will feature writers, poets, photographers, artists, and designers from the area. Erica Eichelkraut, a freelance photographer, created NOMAD and is bringing it to the public. Since Eichelkraut is a part of the Buffalo Indie Market, it wasn’t long before a collaborat …
