Emerald Beach Wraps Up Its First Summer Season

Emerald Beach Wraps Up Its First Summer Season

Story Options

As the fall season sets in, it won't be long before Emerald Beach (for lack of a better name), located at Erie Basin Marina, will be closed for the season. It wasn't long ago that this little piece of waterfront property was filled with rocks and driftwood. Fortunately, we've seen an entire summer season of use at the beach, and it will be interesting to see what a winter season will do to this waterfront asset?

It will also be interesting to see what the future of the beach holds. Though it is a small stretch of sand, there was hardly a day that went by when people were not down playing by the water's edge. It became the perfect spot for parents to bring their children... a place to take your shoes off and dip your toes in the water. Some say that it's not a great beach... it's too small... you can't swim, etc. But if you ask any of the families that took advantage of the sandy area this summer, I bet they would tell you that it's better than having no beach at all.

I am hoping that next spring we find that the beach is in good shape and will take little work to re-open. If that is the case, it would be nice to see a few more rocks removed and in order to make room for a few extra beach activities.

pegger...what about the beach makes it hard to get to? i understand if you don't know where it is, then obviously it would be hard to get to...but now that you know where it is, it is as simple as parking your car and walking a short distance...

that being said, it really is great this became a reality. congratualtions to all who were involved!
