brodo!
Just across the street from Globe Market is brodo (Italian for broth based soup), the inspiration of Buffalo restaurateur Don Warfe and managing partner, Elaine Greco. The duo previously worked together at Just Pasta and are also currently involved in The Garden Restaurant at Albright Knox.
brodois stylie interior is rich with vivid colors and lighting from Lightmakers on Elmwood Avenue. The patio is open and the foodOe Oh man, the food. The menu is divided into appetizers, salads, pannini, focaccia/combos, entrees, and desserts. Things you really ought to try: the brilliant soups (but maybe after the heat breaks); the panko crab cake; warm breaded goat cheese over arugla, field greens, tomato and aged balsamic vinegar; avocado and tomato-basil corn sala cruda; assorted roasted marinated vegetables, feta, tapenade on pita. You get the idea. The food is the type of very well executed and interesting fare weive come to expect from Warfe and Greco.
For beer lovers, thereis a list thick with hard-to-find brews and the select wine list is just as impressive.
Open from 11am to 11pm Monday through Sunday. Reservations are not accepted, but if you have any questions call 881-1117. Or just stop by 765 Elmwood.

As some may know, the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society’s museum building was the NYS pavilion during the Pan-American Exposition. Stephen Baker, the BPO’s Associate Executive Director, will bring the grand piano to life at “Music for a Sunday Afternoon” on Sunday, July 6.

I am constantly walking back to the cash registers with papers and plastics asking where the recycle bins are. And I’m repeatedly told that there is no recycling policy in place. That means that the only way to recycle is to do it yourself… and who wants to carry papers and plastics around with them until they …
One of the things that I really enjoy at the Thursday at the Square concert series is watching all of the young people congregate on Main Street. Last evening I found out that there is a new policy in place that forbids these kids from hanging out near Lafayette Square. From what I understand, a couple of fights broke out last Thursday and a shop window got broken. I can understand that there should be a concern when these incidents happen, but shooing everyone away because a coup …
After the 2006 October snowstorm, Re-Tree WNY was established with the goal to restore the 8400 trees that were destroyed in Buffalo during the October 2006 storm. Re-Tree WNY has been gradually climbing towards their goal with 2,730 trees currently planted in Buffalo and a plea for organizations to join Re-Tree WNY during their planting this November of 2,000 trees.
Even if you're not a member of an organization, Re-Tree WNY is encouraging individuals who would like to plant …

Amazing service, fabulous food, and an overall great experience no matter HOW much you plan on spending. I dropped $100 on a celebratory dinner, but can easily make my way down the street for an affordable lunch!

This place is awesome! It reminds me of the types of restaurants we frequented in California. And they are kid-friendly too (bonus!).
