Three days of Fireworks

It's always a better idea to keep your fingers, toes and eyes intact, and head out to ooooo and ahhhhh over organized and supervised fireworks in Buffalo.
Though there are only a few venues to see fireworks in Buffalo, don't forget that at certain points along the water, you can enjoy the distant fireworks of other towns and villages, while enjoying the Buffalo-based shows. On July 4, Riverside Park and the Central Wharf on the Erie Canal Harbor will host displays.
Starting one day early, Dunn Tire Park will hold their largest fireworks show of the season after the Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings at 6 PM on July 3rd. Tickets are $22 each and can be purchased by clicking here, if you want to take in the game. Still, anyone hanging around downtown will be able see the 'works for free (as long as you're south of the tallest buildings).
On the 4th, fireworks will begin at dusk in Riverside Park and 9:45 at the Cental Wharf. Of course, both locations will be offering more than just fireworks.
Riverside Park festivities will host a daylong festival, starting with a 10:30 AM kiddie parade, and food stands will open at noon. At 1 PM, a parade will travel from River Rock to Riverside Park, with rides beginning at 1 also. At 1:30, enjoy the America's Idol Singing Contest finals, followed by music at 2. Willie & The Reinharts take the stage at 7PM. After the fireworks, the park will close at 11.
The Central Wharf will start celebrating at 2 PM-6 PM with hands-on children's activities. 4 PM performances will begin, including The Rod Nickson Project, Boys of Summer, Wendell Rivera Latin Jazz Ensemble, Jackdaw. Buffalo Trivia with Dennis George will be featured throughout the day, and the grounds will close at 10 PM following the fireworks.
If you're planning on attending the events at the Central Wharf, people are being urged to use the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's Metro Rail. Additionally, the Webster Block, located just opposite the Central Wharf, will be open for paid, public parking.
In a special encore, there will also be another fireworks show at Riverside Park on July 5, beginning at dusk.
Whether you’re attending fireworks on before, during, or after July 4 remember to be safe by not purchasing illegal fireworks and attending supervised firework displays, such as the ones listed above. Remember, it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

Few private citizens can claim awareness of the growing pet population like Robin Johnson can. Johnson owns and operates Vilardo Printing at 326 Connecticut Street and since she took over the business in 2001, she has started rescuing stray and abandoned cats. For Johnson, it started out as one cat, but then it became two, then four, and well, as Johnson puts it, “you know how it goes. There were always cats around the city and when you take in one cat, you always have a gazilli …
Work started on returning two-way traffic to Main Street's 700 block on Monday. Yesterday, Avalon Development made a strategic purchase on the same block where it has been working since 2001. The development company headed by Chris Jacobs acquired 715 Main Street at the northeast corner of Tupper. The highly-visible building contains 6,110 sq.ft. of space with coveted rear parking along Washington Street. Plans for the building are not known.
If you're into science and you're looking to support the Museum of Science, then you don't want to miss this awesome event. Actually, the Museum of Science has been hosting a series of unique gatherings in recent years, but it is the Museum's Attic that actually gets you into places that not many people will ever get the chance to see. The museum's collection is so vast, that at any given time there is a fraction of items showing to the public. Even when exhibits rotate, that only …
Now we're talking... this Sunday (2pm-5pm), 250 incoming Medaille freshman are going to be heading down to the Commercial Slip. It's a joint effort between Medaille College and the Buffalo Tours program. Hopefully this trip will be just one of the many waterfront excursions that these students take during their time spent at the college. Not only will the students learn about the waterfront and the surrounding architecture, they will also be shown where they can catch the Metro Ra …

Anyone know what happened to the Delaware Park show? That was always convenient for us Elmwood area folks to walk to.

i too am wondering what happened to the delaware park fireworks show.... it was the best! family-friendly, live music, lawnchairs on the cool grass, space for picnics.... i was at the last one a few years ago, and it was replaced the following year with a 'concert' by the goo goo dolls on the concrete in front of city hall, where you had to buy your food and drinks from vendors. what a big mistake. who was the genius that thought up that idea? and now there is...... nothing.

How is it that we are so sensitive about environmental impact of just about everything we own or use, but we welcome the discharge of potassium carbonate, potassium sulphate, potassium sulphide, dioxins from copper, sulfur, and other chemicals in levels that would shut down any industrial operation. Take a look at the sky after any fireworks show and wonder to yourself "what is in all that smoke and where is it going?".
I wonder what the impact of fireworks is on Global Warming? What is the true impact of all of the displays that take place across the country over the July 4th weekend? What about all the displays for New Years Eve, that take place around the globe over a 24 hour period? When do you think it will become politically incorrect to have these displays at all?
