Abraham's Jewelers
Rubies are red
Sapphires are blue, and pink and green and yellow and violet andOe
During a recent visit to Abrahamis Jewelers, corner of Elmwood and Auburn Avenues, I learned from owner John Abraham that sapphires come in nearly every color of the rainbow n except red, thatis a ruby. He carries this fun and dazzling bracelet (above, center) with over 6 Ohm karats of fine fancy colored sapphires and diamonds ($3,129). (left: 18K white gold, very fine sapphire & diamond necklace, $1695. right: 14K white gold and diamond necklace $495)
John may seem like the new kid on the block as he has only been in his current location since November 2005. But Abrahamis Jewelers has been in business for over two decades n most recently on Delaware Avenue in North Buffalo. John is a Diamond Specialist, a Bench Jeweler and he is very knowledgeable about all things bling.
In the front window display, youill notice some pieces with a David Yurman vibe but cost 40% less. These are stunning designs from Spain by Andrea Candela. (photo: pendant necklace ($760) and earrings ($690) in sterling sliver, 18K gold, diamond and amethyst by Andrea Candela. left ring: 18K white gold with white and canary diamonds, $1425. center ring: platinum and diamonds, $1795. right ring: 18K white gold, sapphires and diamonds, $739.
Abrahamis Jewelers new space is just lovely. The soothing teal walls and the natural light made it a joy to browse through the cases of gems and jewelry. Abrahamis Jewelers is a full service jeweler so they sell: Diamonds, Engagement & Wedding Rings, Gold, Silver, Platinum, Pearls (including black Tahitian and white Baroque), Colored Gemstones, Bracelets, Necklaces, Pendants, Charms, Earrings, Watches and more for men and women. They also buy gold, silver & diamonds and can do appraisals, repair and cleaning.
There are only five more weeks until Valentineis Day, so stop in to see John and heill find something special that will fit your sweetheart's style and your budget.

Caroline Kennedy was in town for a visit with our mayor yesterday. A possible choice to succeed US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kennedy's name has been mentioned along with that of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo) and our own Byron Brown, among others.
Certainly, Kennedy has "been around politics" all of her life, which is to say she was born into a family of politicos and lived in the White House--neither of which would necessarily f …
Free light rail rides on downtown's above ground section could be derailed thanks to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's budget mess. That is the news coming out of a Buffalo Place meeting this morning. Facing a budget shortfall and reduced State operating assistance, the NFTA is scrambling for new revenue sources and is contemplating charging for rides along the lengthy downtown pedestrian mall.
Well it is Christmas time in the city and the NFTA helped put people and especially children into the mood in a very festive and fun way. One of my favorite memories of childhood was taking the train downtown with my grandfather. I would gaze out the windows and watch the tunnel speed by. It always felt like we were going a million miles an hour.
Then there was the ability to stand up and walk around during the ride without the need to be strapped down. It was always a fun time …
