Gin Blossoms are an alternative rock band that formed in 1987 out of Tempe, Arizona. Their sound was inspired by The Byrds, Tom Petty and R.E.M. The name Gin Blossoms came from a photo of W.C. Fields which contained the caption “W.C. Fields with gin blossoms,” referring to the actor's gin-ravaged nose.

The band recorded and self-released the album, Dusted in 1989 and earned the title of “The Best Unsigned Band in America” by the College Media Journal.
