Shim Sham Jam (Back to events)

Shim Sham Jam is a special Lindy Fix event dedicated to Frankie Manning's original Shim Sham routine. The Shim Sham is a vintage jazz routine (aka "swing line dance"). Frankie put it together from various jazz dance moves and it's been popular ever since. There are many versions of the shim sham out there such as, most notably, the "Dean Collin's Shim Sham". There are other jazz routines danced at swing dances all over the country as well such as the Big Apple and Tranky Do. Frankie started it all though with the Shim Sham: the grandfather of all swing line dances. There are a number of songs out there that the Shim Sham is typically danced to and we'll be playing a few of them. So come out on Memorial Day, May 26th, to learn to Shim Sham! We'll be Shorty Georgin' and Tacky Annie-in' in no time.
The evening begins with a 1 hour Shim Sham class followed by a swing dance. No partner required. Bring clean footwear. Beginners welcome.
