One of my favorite things to see as I bike around the city is the addition of neighborhood pocket parks that continue to spring up. Here are a couple of my favorites. The one on top is found on Connecticut Street located next to Nancy Gabriel's art studio. As a matter of fact, there is a really beautiful sculpture garden incorporated into the park, which makes it a very pleasant place to walk around. If you look closely you can see dozens of metal sculptures positioned along the stone walkway. There is also a whimsical fence found at the entrance that gives the park a sense of space that many other parks don't offer.
The second park featured is found on one of my favorite streets in Buffalo. It's tucked away on Whitney Place, an historic street lined with some of the most incredible houses to be found anywhere in the country. I'm not sure when the neighborhood built this pocket park, but it was just recently that I noticed it. There is lighting along with landscaped elements, trees, a walkway, benches... all of the things that make for a healthy, tight-knit block.
