If you're interested in alternative forms of transportation that can lead to a greener and healthier lifestyle, you should check out this website by The Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council. This site was the catalyst for a recent Buffalo State College initiative that encourages its entire staff to walk, bike or carpool on Tuesday, April 22. The effort is in support of Earth Day and should be seriously considered by other employers (and their employees) throughout the WNY region.
As stated on the website, the big push for Good Going is to promote and orchestrate a WNY carpool-matching program. We've seen this effort done on larger national scales, which is great for people traveling long distance. Now, with the price of gas climbing sky-high as well as the growing concern of Global Warming, commuters can make a conscious choice to take action. It's easy to do... just select a pick up location (like City Hall), then a destination (like UB South Campus) and the program does the rest. Hopefully this free service will catch on quickly.
And don't forget to bike to work, school, etc. on April 22nd.
