Chris Bell Literally 'Launches' His Tour From Rock Harbor

When we found out that Chris Bell was going to launch his aquatic music tour from Rock Harbor Village this Saturday (see event details), we were stoked to say the least. Thanks to co-sponsor Sugar City, Chris has agreed to play – and he might even arrive by canoe (via the Scajaquada Creek). The following is from Chris regarding his journey that will start in Buffalo and lead him down the Erie Canal:

“Well, the journey is part eco-friendly part adventure. I have no sponsorship. I have planned, booked and been training for this all by myself. It started a bit as a joke. Last year, while talking to a friend of mine (and fellow musician) about future plans, I jokingly mentioned I wanted to canoe across NY state, to cut down on gas consumption, and partially in challenge to people I have heard of doing walking and/or biking tours. With his words of "you know, that’s not a bad idea" the gauntlet was thrown and my fate sealed.

As it is called, I am canoeing, with shows so far booked in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, Utica, Schenectady, Troy, Albany, Poughkeepsie and New Paltz.

As far as the show on the 19th goes, it is a show set up by the Sugar City Collective at Rock Harbor at 7:30pm.

About Me: I am a singer-songwriter from Jamestown, NY. With a Baritone Ukulele (at least for this tour), harmonica, voice and tambourine, I play folk and alt country songs with sepia toned, nostalgic lyrics telling stories of both fictional and of real life about small towns, families, and even of a few episodes of MASH.

Look for the Rock Harbor Village mural (photo) that just went up on The Forte (along Scajaquada Creek) broadcasting the location. Hey Chris, Rock Harbor crew has cleared a landing site for you and your canoe. Any other canoe paddlers and kayakers are also welcome to arrive via water.

Also, be sure to RSVP for the event on Facebook. Additional details found there...
