Chef's Surprise

http://archive.buffalorising.com/yum/archives/upload/2006/08/chef_deli_macs-thumb.jpg Chef Deli, a business that has operated in Buffalo for the last 25 years, closed its doors yesterday. Word on the street is that the operation was sold to another small grocery store. No news yet on whether the deli will take on a new look of feel... or a new name for that matter. Tatonka was on the scene yesterday speaking with Sam (owner) who was sad to see the place go, but was happy with the family's 25 year run.

I stopped into Jimmy Mac's to see what was up and the door was locked. It turns out that Mac's is no longer open for lunch during the weekdays (only on weekends). They are concentrating their efforts on catering to a dinner crowd and a late night food crew. Mark Supples tells me that (much like Mother's) the dinner crowd and the late night foodies are where it's at... so that is when you'll catch them open. Within a few days the corner of Elmwood and Anderson has changed dramatically from a daytime lunch spot to a late night haunt. We'll keep you posted on the happenings at Chef Deli (cross your fingers that they remove the opaque glass)... stay tuned.
