Another "large" project announcement - how can the government be taken seriously when they can't even do simple cleaning and maintanance on bike path. I wrote the Erie County Parks department weeks ago about the broken glass, liter and other problrems with the path and to date no response. I view this as just another joke from the comedians who run this region.
Best place to catch the sunset in the city hands down....really amazing, somewhat unknown park that deserves the attention.
Politicians honoring promises... I won't hold my breath. But, it is one of the nicest places to ride in the area. I take this route on my way to work on occasion, and although it is filled with litter, it is still an enjoyable ride. Anything close to the above plan would really improve it and increase traffic to the waterfront.

I appreciate the discouragement you feel after reporting the negatives at the park. I had the same response...er...lack of response too. Last year I went to the park nearly every day to pick up litter and remove graffiti, etc. While doing that, I also wrote letters and made phone calls to the City and County. One just blamed the other and nothing as simple as getting more trash receptacles ever occurred. Very disheartening. Honestly, this year I felt it was better to let the troubles add up so maybe someone in the City/County would take notice. Squeaky wheel gets greased mentality. I'm willing to help but I'm not willing to do an ongoing job for free that paid City/County workers should be doing.
The cynicism you expressed is shared and seen by many all over the place. We can't be beaten done though. BUT we, all of us, must get the message out to the City to work out realistic coverage agreements with the County for parks, the NFTA for maintenance at bus stops/shelters, etc. so all of us can have more pride in our community.
Hey at least we got some crazy corporate ninja training for county workers. Who needs parks?
Been following this project for a while now, sounds like a great plan. I hope Collins sees what a great regional asset this is going to be. All I keep hearing about on the news is project in the suburbs, did you forget about the city Chris? Heck the county doesn't even have to do the work, citizens did it for you. Regardless if the parks to the city, this spot is county land and county responsibility. Do the right thing Mr. Collins and live up to the promise, let the project move forward!
I hope that this can be built, but maintenance and security are crucial because Ontario Street to Skillen Avenue is a drug and prostitution corridor that the police have not been able to control.
Is there no vision in County Government? When will we plan for and provide a future for our region? Without major renovations, this area will probably have to shut-down for safety sake. We have a chance to capitalize on one of our great assets, the waterfront. We also have community leaders that have done much of the leg-work on this project at no cost to government. Now, it is time for our leaders to take a step towards a better future for this region. Please, Mr. Collins, put this into your plan to improve Erie County. I think that after Erie County makes a commitment, others will too. We are blessed to have a waterfront. Let's use it to our benefit!
