Today is the last day of Trinity Church's Annual White Elephant Sale. For those of you that have been, well you know you,Aeod better scurry down there. For those of you that haven't,AeP.well, you,Aeod better scurry down as well. The church's maze-like basement awaits you, its many rooms stacked to the rafters with bargains and goodies galore.
You will find rooms dedicated to furniture, clothing, books, toys, kitchenware, holiday trimmings, electronics, and pretty much anything else that you can imagine. The weather is supposed to be a little chilly, so for you avid garage-sale devotees, this is a fabulous alternative to braving freezing temperatures while riffling through boxes on someone's driveway.

Well, after 10 days in the dark most of us have finally welcomed the light back into our lives. National Grid announced that most of the 300,000 residences without power over the last week have been restored.
Our neighbors were over sharing a large dinner ,Aei cooked on the gas stovetop ,Aei during the fateful flick of the switch that filled the house with light. Gathered around the table, they imagined a night with a movie and microwave popcorn. Or reading a book by man made ,Aei instead of natural ,Aei light.
All I could think was, I was starting to like the dark.
Don,Aeot get me wrong, Buffalo,Aeos own natural disaster has been inconvenient (and damn cold) but then, many of life,Aeos lessons aren,Aeot easy. They try our patience and tes…

Since the Sabres unveiled their new logo this year, there has been an endless flood of complaints, witticisms and overall bad vibes surrounding the modern take on our great mascot. Our June post leaking the new design received hundreds of comments, overwhelmingly negative, from angry Buffalonians and Sabres fans across the country.
But for all the apparent disdain surrounding the jerseys, they've managed to become one of the hottest selling items in the league. They were the top-selling item last week on the NHL website, and they're nearly selling out our own Sabres store in HSBC Arena before they can hit the shelves.

The last time I saw a guy change into a giant cockroach was at a Grateful Dead concert in the 80s.
Thats a story for another time, but I was reminded of that experience recently during a poignant and delightfully eerie performance of Franz Kafkas The Metamorphosis at Buffalos New Phoenix Theatre. The show's run concludes this…

Isn't it nice knowing that there is a music shop that is located right in the neighborhood? I drive by this place every day, and even though I myself do not play an instrument, I am comforted by the fact that those that do have a place to go that is so handy. I've walked inside and stared at the beautiful surroundings... I've listened to the sounds of instru…

So what do you think... because a battle is brewing in the Allentown District. Second Skin, an ex-retail store located at the corner of Allen and Wadsworth is in limbo at this very moment. Many in the neighborhood feel that this location should remain retail, while others are pushing for a restaurateur from NY to be granted a change o…

It seems like just yesterday when we were covering the opening of the DVD Dot located at the corner of Elmwood and North. I remember that I was particularly excited because the location had been a notorious one on the street for either being empty or occupied by a business that you knew was not going to make it. Now the avenue is faced with the task of f…
