You may be shocked to find that many of the retail stores in the area shipped out all of their winter goods weeks ago, making room for bikinis and rollerblades. Madison Avenue may be chugging out its spring lines, but here in Buffalo we are fully ensconced in a winter wonderland.
In the last few days we have seen Delaware Park's Shakespeare Hill transform from a muddy mess into a sparkling white landscape speckled with wind-burned kids wrapped in brightly colored Polartec. There is no denying that winter has finally arrived,Aei and the kids aren't complaining.

Theater Plus, the woman's theater company under the Alleyway Theater umbrella, will be pretty darn busy over the next few weeks. So busy, in fact, that the T+ programming spills into just about every available space in the building...Alleyway's mainstage, its cabaret space and its gallery will all be deployed to showcase arts, performed and presented, by women.
Theatre Plus is the new name for the company originally named Pandora's Box. The new name reflects a new administration but the woman focused performances and programming tradition continue as in the same vein. In the coming weeks, Kim Piazza, artistic director of Theater Plus, pulls together three different theater bills.

Check out the mannequins in the windows of Voluptuous Diva on Hertel Avenue - they're full figured and looking fine. Paying homage to the beauty of curves, Ruby Ocasio opened her store last year to bring hot styles to the plus-size women in town. Since then, Voluptuous Diva has taken off running, now featuring beautiful couture styles in everything from jeans and tops to cocktail dresses and ball gowns.
"I really try to focus on unique peices you don't find elsewhere," Ocasio said. "I like to bring in styles that are hard for plus-sized women to find and bring them to life in my store."

When I operated Thunder Bay on Elmwood Avenue I sold a lot of Buffalo related gifts. Many of those gifts were books, and if you've visited more dedicated shops like the one within the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, then you know just how many selections are out there. We've covered a bunch of those books here on BRO, but we still have not even touched on the diversity of subjects that the books cover. Unfortunately, some of the titles, such as Steve Powell's Rushing the Growler, are not currently available, but as the interest continues to grow regarding our region we will hopefully see select books come out of retirement.
Then there are books like Bodyslams in Buffalo, Buffalo Bicycles, Church Tales, Crystal Bea…
