There are two amazing aspects of the annual Buffalo Poker Run. The first, is seeing all of the incredible boats on display in the harbor at Templeton Landing before the race. It’s ridiculous eye candy. Then there’s the actual race, which can be more heard than seen. By the time these racers leave the Erie Basin Marina, they are fast approaching speeds of 100+ miles per hour. Last year there was an uptick in registrants, with 118 boats competing for bragging rights and top prizes. It’s an exciting time to be at the Buffalo waterfront. Rarely will you get a…

It might not be the most professional video, but diehard Buffalo supporter Griffin Jones* has thrown his top hat into the ring, by producing a thoughtful video that talks about what this city really means to him. The video is not flowery, nor is it a supercharged rant. Instead, it’s a commentary on where Griffin believes we, as a city, are today. How far we have come… how far we need to go… and what we need to be doing presently, and in the immediate future. Buffalo is not an international city, which is fine. It’s a city filled with…

I think that I’ve found one of my new favorite places to eat in Buffalo. Belsito (originally Salumeria Belsito) has just about everything to make me feel at home, mainly through the owners’ passion for food, their dedication to NYS craft beers, and even their love of animals. Belsito has been open for a couple of years now, but to tell you the truth, I only just ate there last night after a friend clued me into their artisanal pizzas. When the place first opened, I remember popping in and making a mental note to come back once the eatery…

To tell you the truth, I never used the original City Dining Cards for a number of reasons – primarily because I never had them with me. But seeing this new smart phone version of the service, I believe that the group behind the initiative is really onto something. After…

The Ferry Street Corridor Project, via Friends of the Buffalo Story (FOBS), Young Audiences of Western New York, the Anne Frank Project and the Buffalo Schools, among other community partners, continues to tell the story of a street that will some day be a critical connector between the East and West Sides.
