Seeing that Buffalo is known as a party town, with bars that stay open until 4am, and breweries and distilleries opening up in all directions, it’s fitting that the city can claim responsibility for a few fun-loving drinking games.
Now a new drinking game has emerged from the Buffalo party circuit. It’s called Queen’s Cup: The Drinking Game. Collegiate partiers might be familiar with King’s Cup (or Circle of Death or Ring of Fire) – the game was a dorm room favorite for many young merrymakers. Much like King’s Cup, this new game centers around a full beer, with a deck of cards fanned out around it. In the Buffalo born version of the game, the object is to NOT draw the fourth queen. If you do… the mug’s content is all yours to consume. But don’t fret, there are clever and cunning ways to get out of the loser’s final sentence.
The Queen’s Cup is filled with all sorts of funny, wacky, and beguiling paths to take. Just a few of the jovial stunts that players might come across on their quest, include:
- Consummating an arranged marriage
- Battling in a thumb war competition
- Determining how you will haunt your friends when your dead
The drinking card game was created by the Buffalo Beer Mug Co. – a local business that launched a series of bar ware items over the course of the last holiday season. This year, their latest trick is Queen’s Cup – a game that the company’s founders feel will suit anyone looking to lighten up and loosen up with friends (or strangers for that matter).
The new age drinking game has four times as many rules as King’s Cup, plus two wild cards. Don’t be surprised if you pull the “Royal Portrait” card and end up posting your own mug to Facebook. The “Send a Raven” card will have you texting someone a note – but what will it say, and to whom will it be sent?
Will you get “The Royal Pardon” in the end, or will you suffer the fate of the “Sorcerer” who must predict the outcome of the game?
Other favorite cards include:
- Creeper Peeper: Whoever holds this card may peek at two cards every turn before making a final selection.
- Rule or Be Ruled: All players except you create a rule that only you must follow.
- Drunk Fool: You’re a drunk fool. Impersonate another player. Any player that laughs must drink. If nobody laughs, you must drink.
- Brothel: Assign all players a stripper name. Players must drink if they do not respond to their new name.
“Tired of the King’s boring old rules and game of yawns, the Queen poisoned his drink, forcing his kingdom to now play by her rules.
To avoid meeting the same fate as the King, players must be cunning, ridiculous, and even obscene, but ultimately no one is safe.
All Hail the Queen.”
Queen’s Cup: The Drinking Game™ is currently available at BuffaloBeerMug.com for preorder. Free local pickup at Village Beer Merchant on Hertel Avenue is scheduled to begin Dec 10th. Keep an eye out for BBM this weekend at Yuletide in the Country at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.
