The West Side is busy preparing for its annual event, Peace, Love & Grant Street. If there was ever a time that this event would be relevant on a local and global scale, it would be now. What started off as a way for Grant Street to be a part of the larger Buffalo conversation, has suddenly taken on even more meaning and importance, as it reflects worldwide immigration efforts and policies.
Peace, Love & Grant Street was ahead of its time. Today the message that the event shares is even more critical than ever. The West Side has become a melting pot of cultures that, when combined, deliver to us restaurants, retail shops, and myriad other businesses that pop up (including The West Side Bazaar).
This is the time of year when we celebrate the advancements that are being made on the entire Grant Street front. The immigrants and the refugees are just a piece of the larger puzzle. There are countless others who are doing their parts to energize Grant Street. Now it’s time to recognize and celebrate all of the successes.
On Thursday, December 3, the Grant-Ferry Association will be kicking off its 4th annual Peace, Love, & Grant Street event from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. The event will feature a trolley, a pop-up marketplace, food trucks, holiday arts and crafts, and a visit from Santa. It’s the perfect time to check out all of the wonderful new businesses along Grant Street – businesses that deserve our support this holiday season.
