Cranksgiving is right around the corner. That’s the day when local cyclists head out on the streets in search of food for the families in need. It’s just like a scavenger hunt, with check off lists consisting of food items that can be tracked down at neighborhood grocery stores.
Each cyclist is armed with money (between $15 and $20), a backpack (to carry the food), a bike (to get around town, a list (to identify the goods), and a helmet (to be safe).
The rest is sheer will power and pedal power that will allow the cyclists to collect the food, which will in turn be dropped off at GObike Buffalo’s workshop. The goods will then be donated to Food not Bombs.
Following are all of the details that each rider must know:
Families and teams (limit 4 people per team) along with individual riders are encouraged to enter. Being fast is not a requirement. Trophies/Prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be had at the after party at the GObike workshop (98 Colvin Ave) at 3pm. The after party is free for riders, but we are asking that non-riders bring 4 non perishable food items to donate or 5 bucks. Registration starts at 12pm and the ride starts at 1pm.
Cranksgiving!
