As much as it appears as if Buffalo is bursting at the seams when it comes to housing development, the truth is that there is still a long way to go to achieve significant residential density in the downtown core. At the same time, residential and mixed use projects continue to be unveiled, and commercial successes are following in the footsteps.
Will this trend continue to build upon itself? How many people are moving into downtown Buffalo, and where are they coming from? Last year developer Rocco Termini was quoted as saying that there were very few old buildings left to be purchased, which is why he’s turning towards developing infill buildings. What are the rest of the developers doing? Nick Sinatra is beginning to look eastward, as are some other developers? But what does the future of the East Side behold? And along the Buffalo River? If you were a developer, where would you be looking?
