The art of cooking comes naturally to some people. For others, cooking might as well be rocket science. For those who have always looked at the preparation of quality, healthy food as a chore due to the unfamiliarity of the subject at hand, Staci Halton is here to help. Staci is currently running a series of intimate meal prep classes at Freddy J’s on Grant Street, every Thursday from 6:30-7:45pm. She invites anyone who is looking to get in on the ground floor of cooking delicious, healthy meals to join in on the fun.
“There’s a lack of education available on the West Side, to those that want to eat healthier,” says Staci. “Most people want to eat healthier but don’t have the time. The class offers easy and simple meals that can be prepped for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. All foods are low in calories and high in fiber and protein. Ex, Egg McMuffins (egg whites scrambled with fresh veggies baked in a muffin pan. Quick healthy and easy. 210 calories).”
I asked Staci who her prime target participant is for the class (other than me). She says, “The target customers are those that maybe know how to eat healthy, but need new recipe ideas, or desire to learn how to prep for the week. The main objective is to educate and inspire healthy eating. We keep the class low in cost, only $10 so that it’s affordable”
Yes, there’s the cooking of the occasional meal. Then there’s learning how to prepare a number of meals for the week. Staci will teach you how to keep your expenses down, save time, and ultimately have quality meals for you and your family throughout the week.
