Buffalo Hates You Too – A Love Story / Documentary Film is wrapping up its Kickstarter campaign and is four days and $3200 away, from reaching its $25K goal. If the money isn’t raised, that’s not good news for the film. If additional Buffalo fans step up in the final moments and helps the film to reach its goal, it could be (yet another) game changer for this city – a city that has been beating all of the non-sports related odds in recent years. But don’t take it from me… take it from Director John Paget and the project crew:
The film managed to raise $12K at the launch party, and has been building steady momentum. Now it’s time to push the film over the edge, into the fantastical world of production.
“The great cities of the future will be the ones that can tell the best stories about themselves. We’re going to tell the story of Buffalo’s comeback from all quadrants, all neighborhoods of this city. Not just about the neighborhoods that are already coming back, but also about those that need to be brought back into the fold, to experience this renaissance with the rest of the city.” – John Paget, Director.
“We’re going to ask difficult questions that need to be discussed, like how can a city truly be on a comeback when a large portion of its population is still disenfranchised? We want Buffalo to be a case study for other cities like Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit, and St. Louis, in how you can bring these very important topics to the light, when they are far too often never spoken of.” – Eric Porterfield, Producer.
“We’d like to tour the film around to the ten cities with the largest numbers of Buffalo expatriots and have screenings so that people who left can really see what’s going on here. Buffalo is not a paradise, that’s not what’s going to invite people to move back here. It’s the story. This ongoing story of change, where individuals can make a difference – that’s what’s going to entice people to come back. They can come here and be a part of it all.” – John Paget, Director.
The current Kickstarter campaign ends on 10.10.15 at 6PM. Let’s hope that there will be a celebration at hand!
