Gone are the days of drive-in movie theaters, for the most part. When I was young, catching a film at the drive-in was something truly special – there was nothing else like it. There’s something about being outdoors, in an atmosphere filled with parked cars, boxes of popcorn, blankets and chairs, and a giant screen. It’s been decades since I attended a drive-in movie, but thanks to an upcoming event at silo City, that sad record could finally be shattered.
On Saturday September, Silo City will be transformed into an all-day drive-in (style) movie theater. Six memorable movies will be shown over the course of twelve hours, as fans sprawl out on blankets and chairs. The movies will be shown on a giant LED movie screen, which makes it possible to see the action in broad daylight, and into the night. Along with the movies, visitors will be invited to play Kan-Jam and Corn Hole. The J&L BBQ Food Truck will set up from 5:30pm on.
The drive-in-esque event is not just for people who want to pull up in cars. Cyclists and kayakers are also invited to attend the day-long event. Bring a chair, a blanket, a picnic basket and anything else that you require to enjoy the films and the outing.
Following is the film schedule:
