It’s been a little bit over two years since skaters first tested out the $250K Phase I of the LaSalle Park Skate Plaza (designed by NewLine). Since that time, the success of the initial phase can be measured by the non-stop activity that the skate plaza has garnered.
You would be hard-pressed to find a time of day when the East Coast style skate park is not being used. As was expected from the start, the popularity of the skate feature has been met with overwhelming success, thus warranting a second phase to move forward. That means that the time has come to roll out expanded skatepark terrain, with the help of local skaters of course.
On Thursday, September 24, 2015, skaters from around the region are invited to participate in helping to design Phase II of the LaSalle Park Skate Plaza. Preliminary designs are available to view, and internationally recognized skatepark designers will be on hand to discuss the project.
This is a great opportunity to be a part of the growth of this unique Buffalo park, which many though might never come to fruition. Instead, we’re looking at a whole new era in skating, thanks to the grassroots efforts that led to an inspiring partnership with the City of Buffalo.
