Fowler’s Chocolates has opened at HarborCenter. The 100+ year old Buffalo chocolate company has joined forces with the Pegula’s to bring some of the city’s favorite treats to Canalside. After lunching at Panorama on Seven, I took my father down to Fowler’s to hook him up with some chocolate.
After spotting a box that caught his fancy, my dad discovered that Fowler’s also served up Sweet Jenny’s ice cream (also made in Buffalo). A woman behind the counter told us that they decided upon Sweet Jenny’s because Fowler’s already supplies the ice cream company with a number of sweets which are added to the various flavors. She also told us that frozen yogurt is also on the way – there is a station for the toppings, and the machine is just days away from arrival.
As for Fowler’s and its extended relationship with HarborCenter, their famous sponge candy has already made its way into one of the desserts at Panorama on Seven. I am told that the chocolatiers are in the process of striking up a deal that would see the candies featured in the hotel rooms as edible favors for the guests. That would be a great way to get visitors to Buffalo turned on to one of this city’s hometown delicacies.
“Fowler’s is the authentic and original sponge candy, so of course we would be remiss if it didn’t play a prominent role in this distinctively Buffalo space,” said Ted Marks, who has owned the company for more than 20 years. Without a doubt, HarborCenter is one of the most exciting gathering places in Buffalo right now. The energy and enthusiasm are contagious and we’re happy to be a part of this area’s renaissance. I’m also looking forward to out of town visitors staying at the nearby Marriott stopping by to experience some of our fine chocolates.”
Seeing that Fowler’s serves ice cream and will soon have frozen yogurt, it would be nice to see the business set up a couple of tables and chairs in the commonway. I’m not sure if that is allowed, but it would certainly be an added attraction to the growing number of amenities.
Stop in to Fowler’s the next time that you are visiting Canalside, and walk away with something special – from chocolate covered popcorn to a box of their chocolate pizza and wings.
Whether you’re spending some time paddling around on the canals, or eating at one of the nearby restaurants, there’s always time to grab a cone or a candy bar with friends or family.
