The Albright-Knox is, once again, teaming up with artist Jenny Kendler, who recently released a squadron of milkweed seed-filled, biodegradable balloons throughout the city.
This time, the enviro-team will be performing another city-wide naturalistic art project that will see Community Seed Stations posted, which will essentially be a native offering for city residents. The stations will act as depots for people to pick up wildflower seeds, which will then be scattered in areas that could use an infusion of colorful blooms. As the wildflowers proliferate throughout the city, they will do their part in tackling blight and abandon – essentially “re-wilding” Buffalo, street by street.
A press conference was held earlier today at Mattie’s Restaurant, on the city’s East Side. In attendance was Aaron Ott – AK Curator of Public Art, AK Senior Curator – Cathleen Chaffee, Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz, and Buffalo Deputy Commissioner of Community Services Otis Barker.
