A bike ride down Main Street last evening, brought me to a halt in front of the Fountain Plaza Metro Rail station. For the first time, I was able to truly take in the fresh, vibrant surroundings, which look pretty awesome. The LED lights that abound are very eye-catching and light up the street in a vibrant, modern, refreshing way. The hanging baskets are a nice touch as well.
Gone are the days of outdated, galleria inspired, carnivalesque absurdities that once adorned the street. This section of Main Street now shines in a colorful way that varies from block to block – back in May I wrote about the LED washes that illuminate the buildings in the Theater District (see here).
The new stations add a dramatic new look to Main Street. There was a time when it was pretty embarrassing to walk down the street. Thankfully that’s not the case anymore.
