For seven years running (riding), GObike Buffalo and Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP) have put together a group cycling ride that explores farm culture in this city and beyond.
On Saturday, September 12, a hoard of cyclists will embark upon an adventure that will explore a number of farms that are doing their part in contributing to the health and wellness of our citizenry.
Tour de Farms is a 35-mile bike ride that highlights sustainable transportation, as well as the sources for sustainable farmed foods. The ride kicks off at the Rich Products parking lot on the West Side of Buffalo.
Registration begins at 7am, and the first group of riders set out at 9am. After visiting a variety of urban and rural community gardens and farms, participants are treated to a local harvest celebration. From there, the cyclists hop on a bus and head back to Buffalo (5:30pm).
Tour de Farms is a full day of cycling, meeting farm folks, learning about your sustainable surroundings, while meeting some new friends along the way.
