Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the Marcy Casino in Delaware Park was transformed into a beer and wine garden, with a casual seafood restaurant to boot? Well, if all goes according to plan, that might be just the direction that the venue is heading. Jason Davidson and Mike Shatzel (Magnolia Events & Catering) are rolling out some “Hoppy Hours” this summer as a way to test the response to the endeavor. “If this is a success, then in the future we would host the weddings on the ground floor and turn the top floor into a public venue (restaurant and beer garden), open to the public” says Davidson. “In the meantime we’re having our first Hoppy Hour this Thursday, July 2, 2015. People have been asking us to do more public events at the Casino so that they can enjoy this beautiful building and setting. Let’s see what happens!”
Starting this Thursday and running each consecutive Thursday through September 3, the doors of the Casino will open from 5pm to 9pm featuring a different brewery. This week the Casino welcomes Community Beer Works. Beer enthusiasts will be allowed to convene inside the casino, as well as at the upper terrace overlooking Hoyt Lake. Moving forward, each Thursday will feature a different brewery. Guests will also be happy to find beer, wine, and a clam bake with sausages. Each guest is asked to give a $5 donation at the door, which will benefit the Olmsted Parks Conservancy.
“Were always looking for new ways to generate revenue for the parks. One of the reasons we decided to do this was overwhelming requests from city residents and park goers that The Marcy Casino host more public events,” Davidson shares.
