The final piece of HARBORCENTER, a 205-room Marriott Hotel, is in the home stretch. Construction crews from Flexlume Signs are installing the hotel signage this week on the foot of Main Street complex. Guests are expected to start checking-in Labor Day weekend.
Rooms are located in an 11 floor tower above the seven-story base of the complex that fills the Webster Block across from Canalside. The Marriott includes 194 rooms, 11 suites, and five meeting rooms with nearly 6,000 sq.ft. of space.
The $172 million project also features two full-size NHL ice rinks, a Tim Hortons, (716) Food and Sport, and a five-level, 750-space parking structure. Fowlers’ Chocolates, Modern Nostalgia/Blue Collar, Clayton’s Toys, and Red Siren will open soon in retail space fronting Main Street.
The Marriott will join other recently opened downtown hotels which include the neighboring Courtyard Marriott Canalside and the Hilton Garden Inn on Lafayette Square. It will be followed shortly by the opening of the Curtiss Hotel later this year and the Westin Buffalo in 2016.
