When I saw this article on CityLab I couldn’t figure out if I wanted to laugh, cry or lash out. In the end, I decided to laugh. Laugh really hard.
Yes, Buffalo’s lame Amtrak station was given the honor as one of the saddest Amtrak stations in America – deservedly so. As the Central Terminal lies in wait, and the DL&W Terminal rests idly by, we are stuck with a joke of a building that gives this city a black eye every time a traveler pays us a visit by rail.
Don’t just take my word for it, check out what CityLab has to say. This station is tragic, mostly because the history of rail in Buffalo was so magnificent. And I believe that it will be again in the not too distant future. In the meantime, I eagerly await the day that we can demolish this urban eyesore, and put this part of Buffalo history behind us.
In the end, what is especially interesting, is that there a number of Amtrak stations (in the article) that make this station look like the Taj Mahal. While our station made the lead photo, it’s (incredibly) not the worst station on the list.
