I’m so accustomed to seeing food trucks in Buffalo, that I still get thrown for a loop when I run across a fashion truck. Over the weekend, I spotted the Ooo la la Fashion Truck parked at the Erie Basin Marina. There were a number of gals inside the truck browsing the merchandise, and others waiting to climb aboard. It was really refreshing to see the fashion truck at the waterfront. It was even more refreshing to see how popular it was with the ladies.
Seeing Ooo la la Fashion Truck being flocked by customers got me to thinking about a number of retailers that are on their way to HarborCenter – Fowler’s Chocolates, Clayton’s Toys & Gifts, Modern Nostalgia and Red Siren (see news here). While bars and restaurants are one of the keys to the success of the waterfront, there need to be other types of draws that will get people pumped to stick around longer. People will also travel from further areas if they know that the destination offers a more well-rounded experience.
Thankfully, until the permanent retailers arrive, we have some rolling entrepreneurial spirit that just can’t wait for a brick and mortar location to be built out.
