On Sunday, July 19 at 7:00pm, Lafayette Presbyterian Church (at Elmwood), will be bringing back the sounds of live jazz on the front lawn. Reverend Drew tells me that the first live music event that was held this past Sunday, was extremely successful, and the series will continue on to next summer. That’s great news for Elmwood Avenue, as it pretty much secures the front lawn as a high profile music venue that will naturally attract tons of passersby.
“It’s important to the church to provide ways for all of the different people in the Elmwood Village to spend time together,” says Reverend Drew. “We love supporting musicians. We love creating community. We love sitting outside and relaxing on a beautiful Sunday night.”
That sounds about right to me. The only thing that we need to worry about is finding (and bringing) the appropriate chair, along with a picnic basket. Drew and his friends will take care of the rest, and will even offer up water and lemonade to those who just happen upon the scene.
Enjoy some music outside on a summer night.
