I’m sure that many of us are familiar with the Spirit of Buffalo schooner, The Miss Buffalo cruise ship, and the Moondance catamaran, as all of these vessels can be seen out on Lake Erie on any given day.
Other than the aforementioned cruisers, there is another sizable boat, a mid-sized yacht called Grand Lady, that also takes groups out onto the water in a slightly different capacity. A catamaran is one thing. A schooner is another. And a cruise ship is yet another. A yacht voyage… well, there are some people who are always looking for additional creature comforts when out on the water.
I was reminded of the Grand Lady during a visit to the Black Rock Lock yesterday. She was tied up over at Rich Marine. Upon returning home, I decided to look her up, to see what sort of outings she was offering, and it turns out that she is currently underway with a craft brew series called Tap Takeover Cruises.
For $35 dollars (a real deal!), passengers get a two hour cruise, live music, light appetizers and four beer samples. There is also a fully stocked bar, with discounted draught beer (different regional brewery every one to two weeks), wine, and mixed drinks.
The next Tap Takeover Cruise takes place on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, from 6:30pm to 9pm. On that evening, guests will be treated to live music by Ray Wood, and Flying Bison beers, featuring Kolsch 716, Rusty Chain, Blackbird Stout, and Down by the River. Check out the cruise event on Facebook.
The Grand Lady also specializes in afternoon lunch and dinner trips, sightseeing cruises, private charters, wedding and corporate events. To view their full schedule, or to inquire about boat amenities, visit their website.
