The fourth Design Block is scheduled to take place Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 6:30pm. The event will be held at 368 Grant Street (site of future Public Espresso). This particular design block will revolve around the design potential of Grant Street. There will be a panel discussion featuring a number of key players in the revival of the street, as well as local leaders and outside experts. The event will start off with a half hour social before the panel discussion commences. Organizers are hoping that those who share an interest in good great design take part in the affair.
Grant Street has had its shares of ups and downs as of late. The street is in jeopardy of losing a cornerstone building, while at the same time it is attracting some incredible up and comers such as The Pop In, Rust Belt Books and Public Coffee. There could not be a better time to host a conversation of this nature. With new student housing on the way, deplorable corner lots that wreak of disinvestment, and a thriving immigrant and refugee community, what will the future of this mixed bag melting pot hold for the city?
