Add another project to the underway list. Workers have begun gutting the Phoenix Brewing Building at 835 Washington Street to prepare it for new life as residential and commercial space. The development team is led by Sinatra & Company Real Estate and ten percent of the profits from the project will go to Say YES Buffalo, a community education collaborative aimed at increasing high school and post-secondary completion rates.
The $7.65 million Phoenix Brewery Apartments will feature 31 units, a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments. They will be the first luxury housing within the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. 3,000 sq.ft. of commercial space will also be available.
“The south-facing second floor units have direct access out onto roof-top terraces facing the Trico Building,” says architect Jonathan Morris of project designer Carmina Wood Morris. “All of the other units have access to common roof terraces on the second floor, the north side of the building facing the medical campus, and the third floor roof with panoramic views in all directions.”
Tenants will also have access to enclosed parking for 24 cars.
The Circa-1888 structure was built as Buffalo’s first brewery and was purchased by the developers in April 2014.
