Larkinville is becoming a hotbed for criterium racing. Ever since the race series left the Cobblestone District and set up shop at Larkin Square, the momentum has surged. With skilled racers and a growing fan base, the future of bike racing in Buffalo looks to be stronger than ever.
“Today is our last race of 5 race series,” says criterium organizer Frank Grillo. “It’s shaping up to be a barn burner. We have Tour de France stage winner and yellow jersey holder Steve Bauer, signed up. Canadian elite racer Simon Fothergill, team NCCH p/b Dec Expr, will be racing. In the women’s race we have professional Hayley Jones from Scarborough AUS racing, also from team NCCH p/b Dec Expr. This is the biggest thing to happen in bike racing in Buffalo in a long long time. We are getting a reputation for very fast Criterium racing on a great course with an awesome venue at Larkin Square.”
