For the second year running, South Buffalo is welcoming a farmers’ market to Cazenovia Park. The first season in 2014 was such a success, that this year there will be a number of new market vendors selling, including Resurgence Brewing Co., Prudom Farms, Painted Meadow Farms , public espresso + coffee (featuring Breadhive), 1801 Handcrafted, Chateau Buffalo, D’Avolio, Alpine Made, Citrus Smashers, Dog Ears Bookstore & Café, Hen’s Honey Bee Farm, Gourmet Lao, I Do Weddings Florist, Lovern Photography, Kupkates, Desi’s Produce, Kate’s Country Cousins, The Pasta Peddler, Peppermint Farms, Park Edge Sweet Shoppe, Fetch! Gourmet Dog Treats, Farmthisway and Duke’s Donuts.
“I am thrilled to have the South Buffalo Farmers’ Market returning for the second year,” said South District Councilmember Christopher P. Scanlon. “The overwhelmingly positive response to last year’s market indicated the neighborhood’s desire for this type of event. We have an amazing list of returning vendors which will be complemented by a number of new participants. The farmer market board, and my staff and I, have been working hard to improve upon last year’s event and I think we will see an improvement to an already extremely successful event. I want to thank the residents for coming out and supporting the market. Without them, the market would not be a success.”
Throughout the summer, the market attracts 20 food purveyors per week. The community can also expect to find live music and free yoga classes. Following are a few of the special days that market-goers can look forward to:
- Free yoga classes are being offered to adults beginning on June 14 (Week 2) with local fitness instructor, Erica Tempestoso, conducting the 45-minute courses.
- Community Organization Days, in which local organizations are invited to set up stands and share information with residents, are scheduled for June 21st and September 20th.
- The very successful Kid’s Day will also return this year on Sunday, August 2nd featuring a magician, kid’s music, face-painting and more activities.
The market will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm every Sunday from June through September in Olmsted’s Cazenovia Park (at the Caz Casino)
