We’ve all heard of the ‘farm to table’ movement. Then, in Buffalo, there’s Farm to Curb. There’s also ‘farm to school’. Now Farmers & Artisans (located in Snyder) has teamed up with the Innovation Center on Ellicott Street to bring fresh produce, breads, dairy, meats and even prepared foods directly to the workplace. The initiative is considered a ‘Farm to Work’ model that will continue to expand into other work sectors in the future.
Just think of the entrepreneurial workforce that doesn’t get a chance to hit up the farmers’ markets on a regular basis. Now anyone at the Innovation Center can simply input their orders online, and have their farm goods delivered directly to the workplace. Workers create an account at Farm-toWork, scour the items that they need, place their orders, and then pick them up at a designated time and place.
Farmers & Artisans will be gauging the response to this new program in order to grow Farm to Work in the future. This is a win-win for the farmers/bakers, etc., as well as those who spend a great deal of time at the Innovation Center. Anytime we can get healthier, locally grown/produced foods into the hands of those who appreciate the effort, then it’s worth the time and energy to roll out these progressive initiatives.
*The Farm to Work program is only available to employees at businesses located at the Innovation Center, 640 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, NY. Future delivery sites to be announced.
